Long after the invasion and occupation of Earth by a race of powerful robots for human knowledge and ingenuity, humans are confined to their homes. Leaving without permission would be life threatening.
Observed by electronic implants around their necks, the robot sentry is able to track human movements to control them. When someone tries to get out of the house, the robot sentries warn them to go back to their house.
If he does not comply within ten seconds, they are killed. At the beginning of the film, a teenager named Shawn Flynn (Callan McAuliffe) is looking for his father, who went missing shortly after being attacked by a robot, sending a tennis ball and a lost hand-painted poster hidden in the fruit.
